Jakarta, July 25, 2024 – The Faculty of Economics and Management at IPB University, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and BAPPENAS, in collaboration with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and Bioversity International, held an Expert Consultation titled “Foresight and Metrics to Accelerate Food, Land, and Water Systems Transformation (Foresight)”. The event took place at The Westin Jakarta Hotel, Wayra Room, 67th floor, bringing together experts from various national and international institutions.

The event aimed to develop modeling and analysis for the projection of Indonesia’s agricultural food systems to address future challenges. Preliminary results of the study have been processed by the research team. However, to ensure greater quality and relevance, input from experts in various sub-sectors was deemed essential.

The session began with remarks by the Deputy for Maritime Affairs and Natural Resources at BAPPENAS, Dr. Vivi Yulaswati, MSc, followed by a presentation of the study's findings by Prof. Dr. Ir. Erizal Jamal, M.Si, and Dr. Sahara, SP, M.Si. The discussions involved notable experts, including Dr. I Gusti Ketut Astawa from the National Food Agency, Prof. Dr. Ir. Luki Abdullah from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry at IPB University, and Dr. Ir. Ani Mulyani from BRIN.

The discussions provided various strategic insights, emphasizing the importance of integrating technology and innovation into the national food system. This transformation is considered crucial for enhancing productivity while supporting the sustainability of natural resources.

This event marks a significant first step in supporting Indonesia's vision of sustainable food systems transformation, with the hope that its outcomes can be incorporated into future development planning, including in the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).
